An inevitable biopic about artist Nina Simone has confronted crisp feedback over its film trailer which demonstrates lead performer Zoe Saldana with obscured skin.
Her giving a role as Simone was condemned when it was reported in 2012, with Simone's little girl recommending she was "not the best decision".
A tweet this week by Saldana, advancing Nina, was met by an incensed reaction from the late artist's twitter channel.
It read: "Please take Nina's name out your mouth. For whatever remains of your life."
A later tweet, posted on the official Nina Simone account on Wednesday, summed up the profundity of feeling in the Simone camp: "Ideally individuals start to comprehend this is difficult. Awful, disastrous, disgusting, soul-smashing. It might pass, yet for now..."
